What best way could a traveller enjoy? Well, that's having fun in a lesser expense...

Singapore has never failed to excite their tourists. That's why it is the most visited country in South East Asia. After all, Singapore is a vibrant, exciting city that has seen its fair share of breathtaking new developments in the past years. And the future promise even more dynamic new venues and events in this hi-tech, low-stress metropolis.

However, some are hesitant to visit this city because of it's high costs of living. Well, that's true. The prices at Singapore are a bit of a heartache, but, if you're good in looking for much lower rates and discounts you'll probably say it's fun and relaxing to be in Singapore. (For the rich and "can afford", you may not need to anticipate. You'll still enjoy even if you spend more anyway.)

National Freedom Climb 2011- Mt. Matutum

With an attempt to create a new Guinness World Record criterion on the "Most Number of Participants to Simultaneously Summit over 100 Peaks" in one country, this year's National Freedom Climb has been the main course of almost all uniting Pinoy mountaineers. The event was organized by FIMO, Inc (Alliance of Filipino Mountaineers) in collaboration with various mountaineering organizations in the country. National Freedom Climb is an annual event which started 3 years ago and is scheduled in time with the celebration of the Philippine Independence Day on the month of June. In each peak, the Philippine Flag is raised along with the singing of the National Anthem on the 12th of June at exactly 9A.M.

Aside from promoting nationalism, this uniting event also aims to encourage environmental awareness, preservation and protection, as well as camaraderie among individuals and mountaineering groups in which to achieve a greater good.

SOCKSARGEN has always been active in participating this event, boasting its beckoning irregular cone volcano, Mt. Matutum (2,293+ MASL). With DMC (Dolefil Mountaineering Club) as the partner organization, 3 courses were also made known to those who are attempting to conquer what was tagged to be the Mountain's "Devil" Trail. These were Glandang Course (6-hr trek), Kyumang Course (8-hr trek), and the recently established Kinilis Course(4-hr trek). Mt. Matutum is a challenge for both new and frequent climbers due to its extreme cold environment and the lack of water source along the trail. Climbers should also expect heavy rains (which happens all year round) and strong winds at the peak. These conditions made Mt. Matutum a difficult mountain to climb.

Laagan's WANDER-ful Weekend (National Freedom Climb 2011- Mt. Matutum)

this videoblog has "Lupang Hinirang" music background at the end- the mountaineers' tribute to the Philippine Independence Day (June 12)... over 100 summits worldwide were conquered by Pinoy Mountaineers... an attempt to set a Guiness World Record of the most number of people in simultaneous multiple ascent.

Aside from that, over a hundred thousand trees were planted as these activity aims to promote green environment...

I am proud to be counted as one, also having succeeded in climbing a newly established trail at Mt. Matutum. The body aches I felt did not stop me in compiling some photos and videos to an MV. I'm just excited to show my most memorable, WANDER-ful weeked...
