Boss' Farm

It’s been awhile since our department hold a bonding activity due to busy schedules. Yesterday’s “no canning” day was an opportunity and so our manager, Sir Jeff, invited us at his farm in Landan to have a get-together.

The place is nice and quiet; conducive for relaxing. A cottage was built, standing on a cliff, overlooking a portion of the wide pineapple plantation and the Casava hills. The rush of the river stream of Mt. Matutum can be seen from the top telling you its life and abundance. The farm is located at an elevated area so the blow of the wind, especially at twilight, gives you a chilling mood. There are also tilapia ponds few distances below the cliff.
The farm is continuously being developed and, no doubt, soon this will be one of the tourists’ destinations in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

Oh my CHOCO!!!

This entry is not a feature of places yet to be discovered huh...

Well, last night, I opened our refrigerator and saw lots and lots, as in, overflowing (exaggeration mode.. lol!) chocolates stuck inside the vegetable storage box. That time, I suddenly forgot what would I be getting inside because I saw my favorite Snickers Bars. Mom told me, those came with the package from my Dad in Guam.

Anyway, I got excited like a child of course, and even  took photos of some of my favorite brands. Just want to share  my choco macro masterpieces. And to make this entry more inte(resting(?)... and longer (actually I can't think of something more to write in) I put "chocolate quote" caption in each picture. Just read and comment if these lines are contradicting or undeniable. (",)

"All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt." - Charles M. Schulz
"Caramels are only a fad. Chocolate is a permanent thing. Dare to be different"

"Nine out of ten people like chocolate. The tenth person always lies." - John Q. Tullius

"Make a list of important things to do today. At the top of your list, put "eat chocolate." Now, you'll get at least one thing done today." - Gina Hayes

"The 12-step chocoholics program: Never be more than 12 steps away from chocolate!" - Terry Moore

"Other things are just food. But chocolate’s chocolate." - Patrick Skene Catling

"God gave the angels wings, and he gave humans chocolate." - Anonymous

"Nothing is more romantic than chocolate."

The Biggest Moon (after 20 years)

I've seen a CNN feature about the March 19, 2011 full moon which will be bigger and brighter than the usual. As explained in the article, "Saturday's full moon will be a super "perigee moon"-- this is the biggest in almost 20 years. This celestial event is far rarer than the famed blue moon, which happens once about every two-and-a-half years."

I don't want to wait another 20 years just to capture this, so, I grabbed last night's opportunity of a clear sky and took some photos of the "Perigee Moon".

"...Even though it may look close enough to touch, Saturday's full moon will still be at a healthy distance -- some 211,600 miles (356,577 km) away. As rare as it is, it may be worth a look. Miss it and you'll have to wait until 2029 to see it again."--CNN

Some Kalilangan 2011

I was on my way home, after a Sunday work, when I was trapped at Pioneer Avenue because of the "road closed" signs. There was a street parade and since I can't pass through, I decided to park my car and watch the said event. I was fortunate to have brought my DSLR with me. At least, I didn't waste my time because I was able to capture some beautiful actions from the parade.

Puting Balas (a.k.a Little Boracay)

The Laagans just had a great weekend adventure, feeling like survivors, in Puting Balas... (",)

Google Coordinates of Puting Balas

"Puting Balas" is a visayan term which means white sand. Located at Kisulad in Sta. Maria, Davao del Sur, the place was named after this because it's the only white sand shoreline, stretching about 2 kilometers long. The neighboring shorelines have gradients of brown to black sand, which seems, Puting Balas had just been artificially dumped with white sand... But, amazingly, it's all natural.

Another access to the beach is to walk through the cliff-side

Sunset at Baswayan
Kisulad is 2-3 hours away from General Santos City. The route is very accessible. Going to Puting Balas, you can either take a 15 min boat ride from Sitio Baswayan or have a 25 min habal-habal rough ride taking the back part of the resort. Don't worry about electricity because the resort already have it. They even have air conditioned rooms for rent.

Puting Balas is also called little Boracay because of it's Bora-like white powdery sand, except, no party places or establishments. If you're looking for serenity or peace of mind, Puting Balas is just a perfect getaway. Owning the place for a day or more is the right thing to de-stress.
